The very first text message ever sent was 25 years ago in 1992, by a guy named Neil Papworth. The text was sent from a computer to a mobile and it read “Merry Christmas.”  He didn’t receive a reply since you could not send text from a mobile.

Papworth said that Jarvis was unable to reply because at that time it was not possible to send text messages from mobile phones, only to receive them.

How has technology advanced communication? Modern communication is handled by wireless signals, cables, satellites and other advanced technology. Technology has advanced to the point where you can talk to anyone across the world in seconds. In olden days, people had to either travel for days to get to talk to their loved ones or had to wait for months for their letter to be delivered. Whereas now it takes a second to deliver a text, it takes a second to video call your friends and it only takes a second to hear your loved one’s voices. The advanced communication technology has made it much easier to meet new people and keep in touch with our friends and family.

Imagine how long it took people to contact each other before we had any technology. It took weeks or even months and look how long it takes to contact someone now. Technology has changed everything. including the health industry, we have modern technology in every hospital, we have new medicines, we have found a cure for many life-threatening diseases, just because of the advancement in  technology. Technology has many benefits, it keeps us alert about everything happening around the world. It keeps us connected with people, it helps us with our education and it’s also an amazing source of entertainment.

We know so much more now, just because of technology. We have advanced our knowledge about our planet and the entire universe. We have learned how our planet and our galaxy formed. We now know that we have trillions of other stars in our galaxy and we also know that every single one of them has at least one planet. We are not so far from finding other planets with life. We started with thinking that everything rotated around the earth to knowing about a trillion other stars and planets in our galaxy and having an idea about the other galaxies that exist.
